Welcome!

Welcome to my blog!

I'm a pretty busy lady so bear w/ me & I'll write more when I can...

For now, Im a soon-to-be 29yo single white female. I am currently seeing someone but it's been an on-again-off-again thing so we'll see where that goes. Right now I'm focusing on getting my life & career back in order after some rough patches, so I couldn't care less about relationships right now (but heck, who doesn't wanna fall in love?!). It's all about me at the moment! LOL!

I have a degree in English- Professional Writing & worked as a writer/editor for a few horse magazines the past few years. Lost my first career job which I moved to FL for after enduring the 4 hurricanes in 6 weeks in 2004. Moved back "home" to WI where my parents live. Then, a few months later, I moved to Texas to do the same time. Lost my job a year later when they hired a couple of girls that worked for less $ than I did. I even trained them. Grrrrr. Spent a year after that working for a call center (collections- ugh.) just to pay the bills & left there for a marketing job through a temp agency. My "luck" reared its ugly head once again & I didn't get on permanently there because I have bad credit (due to my lay-offs & cross-country moves). How fair is that? "You don't have good credit so we're gonna take your income away??"

That brings us up till now. College degree, experienced writer/editor, single, nothing holding me down, etc. Yet I can't get a job to save my life. Still living in Texas & struggling to pay my bills. Working 2 jobs: temp data entry stint & a part-time bookstore gig. And here comes the holiday season...joy.

So that is my situation in a nutshell. Trying to make the best of it & get my bills paid off & some savings built up. Trying to get "real" furniture for my apartment...I still sleep on a full-sized futon (granted it has a $400 mattress, but still...), I store my clothes in Yaffa blocks because I don't have a dresser, etc. So hopefully Ill get some extra money soon & be able to buy a used queen-sized bed & a dresser that I can refinish/paint. Until then, I'm reminded of my college days & continue to joke that my decor is "eclectic" instead of mismatched...1 day I'll have all of the western decor I want & it will all match. 1 day... (isn't it fun to dream?).

Well, thats it for now. Ill try & write again soon.

PS I should prob mention my "kids." Oakley (Annie Oakley) is an 11yo black & white barn cat & Cyrus is a 2yo black Scottish Terrier. I also have a 10-gallon freshwater aquarium & a 20-gallon that is waiting to be filled & used as a saltwater when $ allows. Its always about money, isnt it?!
